While the smaller energy suppliers are offering the best prices and tariffs, one of them has come a cropper, being the most complained about energy company at the start of this year.
Extra Energy clocked up 60 times as many complaints than the best performer SSE.
With extra customers, it seems that this little company can't keep up. Extra Energy have been offering some of the best prices for a while now, received 1,682 complaints per 100,000 customers between January and March, according to figures from Citizens Advice.
This data comes from people complaining to the Citizens Advice, with different types of complaint given different values, so the severity of the gripe is marked, as well as the volume.
SSE did very well, with a paltry 28 complaints per 100,000 customers. In second place, was the smaller Flow Energy, with just below 33 complaints (per 100k) in the first three months of 2016. EDF Energy, came in third.
Of the big guns, Co-operative Energy and Npower did not do very well, with 819 complaints and 653 respectively.
Gillian Guy, chief executive of Citizens Advice, said: "The latest league table results show both small and large suppliers delivering a good service, proving that a company's size is no excuse for poor performance."
"It should be every consumer's right to receive a high quality service from their supplier and standards must be improved across the board."
