Commercial Break: Is football about anything else apart from body-painting?

21 March 2011

We’re all big football fans here at Bitterwallet, but if we were to choose just one aspect of the beautiful game that means more to us than any other, it would be the passion soccer fans have for their sport, including the tradition of body-painting and how it is done. We imagine that we’re pretty much in tune with FIFA boss Sepp Blatter with that one.

Helpfully, the Vancouver Whitescaps have celebrated their arrival in the Americarnian Soccerball Federation or whatever the fuck it’s called by releasing this promo video into the viralsphere – in it, a naked model has the Whitecaps kit spray-painted on to her also-naked body. It’s all about the passion soccer fans have for their sport, including the tradition of body-painting and how it is done.

Whitecaps’ marketing chief Kim Jackman said that the clip is intended to convey, “the passion soccer fans have for their sport, including the tradition of body-painting and how it is done.” A kindred spirit there we reckon.

To be honest, it’s fairly tame stuff, but it is a fantastic example of the passion soccer fans have for their sport, including the tradition of body-painting and how it is done. And if it does get you slightly hot under the collar, bring yourself down with the knowledge that Peter Beardsley once played for the Vancouver Whitecaps. There – now you’ve got Beardsley’s face etched inside your brain. Sorry.

Isn't it a bit cold in Canada for nakedness? Any way, classic Peter Beardsley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iipfdpxLNMs

If you prefer Crouchy over Beardsley, check here http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010_swimsuit/painting/abbey-clancy/

Newcastle fans could give that a try. Still go bare chested but paint the kit onto their man boobs!
