Will Mapumental change the way, and place, you live?

We've highlighted the work of mySociety.org several times in the past, because what they offer the consumer and individual is a invaluable range of online services, including FixMyStreet and WhatDoTheyKnow. They build all sorts of websites to return power to the people and ensure the bodies our taxes fund are transparent in their activities.

Their latest project is, in a word, staggering. Mapumental - funded in part by Channel 4 - takes every scrap of public transport information available, and mashes it up with postcode information, housing prices, even neighbourhood aesthetics. Watch the video below to see what happens:

Mapumental is a phenomenal achievement, and likely to be a resource that becomes invaluable when relocating, either across town or across the country; further variations could provide accurate travel information and optimum locations when booking hotels for events. It's currently in private Beta, meaning you can only have a play with the real thing as and when you're invited to, but you can request an invite here.
