Premier Inn announce smaller 'Hub' hotels

3 July 2013

Lenny-Henry-in-a-Premier--001 Comedy giant Lenny Henry might be sweating nervously right now, as the Premier Inn chain that he advertises so valiantly turns its attentions to SMALLER rooms – rooms that might be uncomfortable for Lenny to lounge around in.

They’re calling the new venture ‘Hub by Premier Inn’ and the first one will be opening in St Martin's Lane in the West End of London in summer 2014, followed by four more capital locations (Goodge Street, Great Tower Street, Spitalfields and King's Cross) by early 2016. Hubs in other cities are also planned.

Rooms in the Hubs will be up to 30% cheaper than standard Premier Inn rooms, with an average room rate in central London below £100 and starting prices and off-peak rates likely to be around £60.

There’ll just about big enough for cat-swingage – they’ll be 11.4 square metres in size and feature a desk that folds into the bed, luggage storage under the bed, an en suite bathroom with power shower, free Wi-Fi and a 40-inch smart screen TV.

They sound a lot like the capusule-type Tune hotel rooms that are springing up around the country – but will Lenny Henry be able to stretch out in one of them? We’ll wait for the adverts to find out…

Stayed in a tune "hotel" in that london recently. I was pleasantly impressed. Free Wifi, free everything and for £60 a night in the centre of "that london". I would certainly use them again. not good if you have kids.

The Mighty Boosh and 2007 want the fox bumming joke back.

@Yog, If they have the fox bumming joke back - what are we going to bum?

They look brilliant and would be perfect for my short trips to places. Yes Japan have had capsule hotels and mini hotels for years but this is something that we will have at some point. Surprised there is no mention of the fact that you would do the booking and control all the equipment via an app.

His ex wife would be too fat to have a smaller hotel so probably a good thing for Lenny?
