Free hotel rooms from Hotels.com

2 July 2010

Bitterwallet - Welcome Rewards from Hotels.comIn case you missed it, Hotels.com have launched a potentially decent loyalty scheme called Welcome Rewards, promising free hotel rooms when making regular bookings through the site.

In the nuttiest of shells, once you've booked ten nights through Hotels.com, you qualify for one free night's stay at any other hotel. Before you think of booking in to shit-tip hostels to qualify for a penthouse in Vegas, there are a couple of catches:

  • you need to create a Hotels.com account and sign in before booking; your account will automatically keep tabs on what you book
  • you need to complete your stay for ten nights at qualifying Welcome Rewards properties to receive a free night at at another Welcome Rewards property; the site promises there are 65,000 worldwide to choose from, and we've struggled to find any hotels that are excluded from the scheme
  • the free night is valued up to the average daily rate of your ten night stays (although you can stay in a more expensive room if you pay the difference)
  • taxes aren't included

There's more small print on their website, but since you only need book rooms as usual in order to qualify, we'd assume the 10% Quidco discount still applies. Sounds like a genuinely worthwhile offer - let us know how you get on with it.

UPDATE We've heard from the press office at Hotels.com, and you won't be able to use Quidco for the Welcome Rewards scheme. Boo.
