Did you manage to get a £1 Virgin train ticket from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly?

11 October 2008

Virgin does it again. The Trainline's new online mobile ticket dispatching system brings you £1 Virgin train tickets each way from London Euston to Manchester Picadilly.

Dates available run from 13/10/08 - 07/11/08.

However, some more than savvy but less than satisfied customers have pointed out that the system may be faulty in generating WAP confirmations, and that email confirmations are no longer available.

Then again, Branson does have bigger problems to deal with right now.   Cutting interest rates or keeping Virgin Atlantic alive certainly can't be outsourced to the Indian sub-continent.

So here are a few tips from other HUKDers to try figuring this out amongst ourselves without having to deal with a Virgin Media rep in Mumbai or Bangalore:

1. Check www.saynoto0870.com before you call them (thanks attackwes).  Nevermind, I even searched it for you.  Try First Scotrail (Trainline Support apparently) who shows up as 01925 671729.  Let us know if it works, and if you find alternative ways.

2. Virgin's PIC-EUS services will Call at Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke On Trent & Normally Watford, though some may call at the trent valley stations and/or rugby & Milton Keynes.  Based on National Rail guidelines, it is possible to get off at any of these stops, if they take your fancy. (thanks emasu!)

3. Use this link if the direct link doesn't work.

And if you get this to work properly, please do leave a comment below!
