Yahoo! scramble around looking for your missing emails

12 December 2013

yahoo_logo When Yahoo! went down, it turns out they lost a load of emails in the process. They want to restore it and some users are still without their emails since the down time on Monday.

Yahoo apologised, saying: "We're very sorry for recent difficulties with Yahoo Mail. Some of our users haven't been able to access their mail since 10:27 PM PT on Monday night, due to a hardware problem in one of our mail data centers. The issue has been harder to fix than we originally expected. We have dozens of people working around the clock to bring it to a resolution."

Turns out that Yahoo! couldn't fix it as quickly as they thought, prompting them to apologise further, saying: "The affected servers have been up and running for over six hours and we've already delivered over 30% of messages sent during the outage. We expect all emails to be delivered by tomorrow afternoon. [that's today - Ed.]"

"Some users may still have trouble accessing their accounts but we are working through the night on this and will post again in the morning Pacific Time with the latest updates."

POP emails have been sorted, but IMAP is still buggered for the time being. Maybe it is time Yahoo! users opened up another email account as back up?

I didn't know Yahoo were still going. Don't think even the NSA bothered hacking their servers as no fucker uses them anymore.
