Twitter: Now offering custom timelines
Twitter have announced in a blog that they are introducing custom timelines in a bid to give you more control of what you see, how everything is organised and delivered and basically, killing off Storify (and hopefully, those hugely irritating blue lines that no-one has warmed to at all).
These custom timelines are "an entirely new type of timeline – one that you create. You name it, and choose the Tweets you want to add to it, either by hand or programmatically using the API." That means "you have the opportunity to create a timeline that surfaces what you believe to be the most noteworthy, relevant Tweets."
'Programmatically' there, sticking out like a sore thumb.
As each timeline is public and has its own page, you can share it with everyone and add tweets as you see fit, which is a lot like Storify. Or, if you're trying to collect tweets about a show you've been ranting about, or whatever, you can have them all in one place. An example of a custom timeline, which Twitter have allowed an American celebrity to do, can be found here.
