Tesco to release cheapo tablet

20 September 2013

tesco-extra Tesco are all set to unveil a budget tablet on the 23rd September via their new Hudl brand.

The supermarket behemoth aren't up for giving out any details, but rumours are plenty, with one source saying that this dirt cheap device will have a 7in display with a 246ppi 1280 x 720 resolution, a 1.6ghz Quadcore Processor, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, stereo speakers, a three megapixel camera at the back and two megapixels at the front.

It is thought that this tablet will cost around £99 and will run on Android.

If that's true, it'll be going toe-to-toe with the Kindle Fire (starting at £109) and the Google Nexus 7 (£199). It won't even be appearing on Apple's radar, you'd suspect.

It seems incredibly likely that Tesco's Blink Box service will come as a tie-in too.

"I can see Tesco using substantial discounts on other services such as bundled media from Blinkbox, or vouchers for discounts on petrol or groceries through its ClubCard loyalty scheme," says Ben Wood, a mobile analyst with CCS Insight.

So, who fancies getting a Tesco tablet? Will you be buying one for your children? Or is it worth saving up to buy something a bit more expensive? Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

What happened to their plan to concentrate on their core business? I thought they were doing shit because they kept messing around in other areas and said they wouldn't be doing stuff like this?

I usually leave the usual morons to point out the poor quality of your cut and paste articles - but this is a new low - basically copying an article from your own website posted one month and one day ago (maybe you use the hukd 'can repost a deal after 1 month' rule). Andy Dawson - if you are reading this, give Mof a slap for reaching new lows of plagiarism.

@Yawnext: Is this in their Extra Special range?

What do you think?
