Sainsbury's snap up large chunk of ebook something or other

12 June 2012

Here at Bitterwallet, we’re all avid readers – the trouble is that we never get to read any books any more because we’re constantly trying to keep up to speed with the developments in the ebooks ‘game’.

Here’s the latest – Sainsbury’s have jumped into the e-reading ball pool with the purchase of HMV’s 64% shareholding in Anobii (no, us neither) for the nominal sum of £1.

Anobii’s other shareholders are publishing giants HarperCollins, Penguin and Random House, it says here. Who knew, eh? The company will doubtlessly be grouped in with Sainsburys’ music download service and the online entertainment company Global Media Vault, which they snapped up in October 2011.

We await further developments with baited breaths….

Need I mention it should be 'bated breath', not 'baited breath'?
  • Kevin
Maybe because that's an ongoing story that's not moving on much and this is a new UK based thing?
  • Wonkey H.
They will be selling Atomic Thunderbusters next.
