Orange fills the Channel Tunnel with 3G juice

27 July 2012

Bitterwallet - Orange logoMon dieu! L'Orange has announced that they will be filling the Channel Tunnel up with lovely 2G and 3G services, immédiatement. So, should there be a massive fight or dreadful disaster, you'll be able to tweet about it, shoot a video and post it on YouTube while travelling under la mer.

This new service will be included in Orange's French tariffs. Rosbifs will be subject to standard roaming charges if they want to join in the fun.

"Giving our customers the best possible service is our number one priority, which is why we were immediately interested in 2G and 3G coverage in the Channel Tunnel. We are proud to have taken part in a project as ambitious as this, both in terms of schedule and in terms of the conditions for its execution as well as the technological challenges to be met," said Jean-Luc Vuillemin, Orange's technical director for networks and services.

We can't quite work out why Orange is only offering this service (for free) to French customers as the Chunnel travels both ways and, technically speaking, half the line falls under UK jurisdiction... but there you go. It's probably something to do with David Cameron being un masturbateur grande stupide.

Orange being part of France Telecom probably has something to do with it ... still a bit shit that there is not equal service though :(

Thats dumb. Why penalise the British. Guess its because its mainly the French using the tunnel to come over here to work where as we mainly use the chunnel for holidays....
