O2 launch the brilliant Tu Go so you can make calls from any device

1 March 2013

O2 have launched a very smart piece of technology that will enable you to make calls and send texts from your number, from pretty much anything that has an internet connection.

Once you register your number with a TU Go account, you download the app on any compatible devices (iOS, Android or Windows), enter your account details, and off you go, receiving calls, sending texts and picking up voicemail from anything that has the app. This isn't like Skype or WhatsApp - this is you, sending texts from your number which means you can message someone from an iPad and the receiver will get it as a normal text from you.

Cross-platform calls and messaging for anyone on O2, which should be making anyone not on the network rather jealous.

One great thing is that, even if your contract phone is switched off or without signal, the other devices will take up the slack. All call logs and messages will be stored in the app, so it doesn't matter where you take the call and tests show that the sound-quality of calls is "as good as a normal voice call".

This is an excellent development and one that should see other networks going nuts to try and get on it. If not, there's going to be a lot of people jumping ship to O2.

A brilliant, great and indeed, excellent sounding system...almost as impressive as your ability to type this post considering how far your head must be up the 02 marketing department's arse.
