New Samsung smartphones - very water resistant indeed!

17 March 2016

If you're clumsy and are always dropping phones down the toilet, or spilling pints on them, looks like Samsung's new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge might be the phone for you.

While they are not waterproof, they do handle a fair bit of moisture, which is good news, especially if you live in the rainy bits of England and Northern Europe.

SquareTrade ran some tests on the phones (as well as on iPhones) to see how well they did with water on them, as well as being submerged, dropped, and all manner of other things to replicate the incidents that might befall your smartphone.

You can watch the video of the tests here.

Now, if you can't watch the video right now, basically, the new Samsung phones are very, very good when it comes to water resistance and they're also pretty bendy too, if you're forever sitting on your handset. Seriously though, stop that and start looking after your phone - are you made of money?

SquareTrade said, after dunking the S7 phones entirely: "After 30 minutes, the functionality of both Galaxies were intact. But the audio was permanently muffled and distorted."

So don't put your phone in a glass of water, or go swimming with it in your pocket - but it should be okay if you spill some drink on it, or accidentally drop it in the sink.

Not true, the s5 was the same.. just use compressed air to blow out water from speaker or just wait for it to dry out on radiator or somewhere warm.

What do you think?
