Murderer uses social media to confess

9 August 2013

You don’t have to be mad to kill your wife, but Derek Medina of Miami, Florida is such a special kind of crazy that it’s hard to know where to start. First there’s his confession, posted on Facebook, that he’d shot his 26 year-old spouse Jennifer Alfonso.

'Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news,' he wrote. 'My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me.'

(Don’t want to be a grammar Nazi, Derek, but ‘take care’ is two words).

Oh yes, and following the social media theory of ‘photos or it didn’t happen’ he also helpfully posted a gruesome pic of her lying dead on the floor. The picture remained on Facebook for five hours before his profile was taken down.

To add to the insanity and general WTF-ness of Derek Medina, he claims to be an actor, based on the fact he was once an extra in Burns Notice in 2009. He’s also written some baffling e-books with catchy titles like: ‘World Just Ask Yourself Why We Are Living A Life Full of Lies and How I an Emotional Writer Made All Of My Professional Dreams Come True Blocking Society’s Teachings.’

Ironically, another of his books is called ‘How I Saved Someone’s Life And Marriage And Family Problems Thru Communication.’

Let's just hope there's no wi-fi in jail.

Sorry Lucy! My bad. The 2009 'Burns Notice' (with an 'S') is a USA sitcom starring a Scottish poet and an American geriatric nuclear power-plant owner. This ill-matched couple share a flat together, where they usually argue over a cork 'notice' board. Hilarity ensues. Oh and one of them always ends up getting set on fire and resigning from their job.
