Motorola Xoom will be on UK shelves this summer

17 February 2011

Hey look! It's another tablet! Even after everyone laughed at the iPad! This one is the Motorola Xoom which will go on sale in the UK by the summer. That's what a whole bunch of retailers are saying, confirming that they'll be stocking the Android-powered device.

The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy will sell the 3G/Wi-Fi version and PC World and Currys will flog the Wi-Fi-only tablet. There's no official line on the price of the Xoom, but Handtec had their pre-order marked up at £720. It's likely to be cheaper than that with the big boys though.

It's reported that the Xoom has a 10.1-inch screen, a dual-core processor, a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera and run the Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS.

The manufacturers must be loving this; these things cost half as much as a laptop to produce but sell for double the price.
