Microsoft to shut down UK Skype office

Microsoft are going to be shutting down their London Skype office, and sack those who work there.

There's no timeline on this, which is no good for those working for the company, but said that they came to this decision because they are going to "unify some engineering positions, potentially putting at risk a number of globally focused Skype and Yammer roles".

So it looks like some people will be given other roles, which will no doubt be decided after consultations.

Some are suggesting this is a move to get out of the UK because of the Brexit vote, while others just think Microsoft have been planning on doing this for ages.

We can only hope that any big decisions are relayed to staff in person, rather than over video chat, eh?
