HotUKDeals Of The Day - Monday 13th October

13 October 2008

Time for today’s round-up of the some of the best deals unearthed by the hard-nosed bargain-moles at HotUKDeals.

DIG IF YOU WILL A PICTURE...
First up is a cracking entry-level digital camera, available for a penny under £50. Not one for the tech-savvy camera addict, but a perfectly affordable Christmas gift for a digital newbie who wants to point and click to their heart’s delight.

A pensioner for example, or a school-age child, or someone who’s just got out of prison after a long stretch and doesn’t know a megapixel from a pick axe handle. They’ll be able to comfortably deal with the built-in Green Mode function, which completely automates the camera setup, making picture taking effortless for even complete beginners. Or hardened jail birds.

FLASH! AH-AHH!! SAVIOUR OF THE UNIVERSE!

Staying in Gizmoland, this one caught our roving eye too – 8gb of flash memory that’s going for a very affordable £10.99. Bags of storage space, and you could even bung one in with the camera, to REALLY confuse the bewildered recipient.

It’s not too long ago that we were shelling out double that amount for half the storage space – looks like flash memory will soon be literally as cheap as chips (© David Dickinson).

GO WEST - WHERE THE SKIES ARE BLUE

Finally, a mammoth DVD box set that should comfortably see you through a whole winter of hibernation. The West Wing is regarded as one of the greatest TV shows of all time, and this complete box set will also act as a vital guide to the machinations of American politics as the Presidential election campaign draws to a close.

It clocks in at a total of 112 hours with 5 hours of exclusive extras and bonus features, but the characters have a tendency to speak at double speed, so you’re actually getting twice as much telly for your moolah.
