Finally, Twitter is developing a MUTE BUTTON

2 May 2014

When you've got an annoying f-er on your Twitter feed, who thinks they’re ‘funny’ or posts millions of tedious tweets about their cat/mental illness, the only way you could mute them was through a third party app like Tweetdeck.

But now, Twitter is going ahead with a mute button of its own, which will allow users to silence the cock-knockers out there without having to go through the painful process of blocking them.

You would still be able to communicate with them if they send an @ notification or a DM, but you won’t have to deal with the daily grind of their lives, or suffer while they livetweet I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

It’s the latest in a long line of developments from Twitter, whose growth has started to slow down in 2014. With Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Whatsapp taking over the world, Twitter has levelled off in recent months with around 255 million users, so they’ll be keen to improve the user experience and introduce some new bells and whistles.

And if that new user experience means that you can silence Daz from Worksop who describes himself as ‘110% BRITISH TILL I DIE’, that can only be a good thing.

Huh? Surely you just unfollow them if their posts don't interest you, or block them if they're sending irrritating messages tagging you or direct messages?

What do you think?
