Britain loses more than a working week thanks to slow computers

8 October 2013

Old-women-on-laptop Thanks to slow computers, and the rising anger of waiting for programs and files to load up, using a computer at all is one of life's biggest mithers.

According to research, almost one in three Brits admitted slow-loading PCs put them in a bad mood for the rest of the day, with a third saying they've lost sleep over this persistent issue.

SanDisk commissioned the study, and it turns out Italians were found to have the longest technical delays, wasting 6.8 days a year. In the UK, the most common delays was waiting for files to be uploaded or downloaded, followed by slow-loading apps.

Five and a half days a year were lost in the UK, thanks to slow computers.

"It’s high time PC users in the UK started getting back the time they are losing to slow computers,” said Stefan Kratzer, senior product marketing manager at SanDisk USB & SSD. "PC users in the UK are spending too much time waiting for computers and would quite understandably like to get more time back to do the things they enjoy."

So how are we all dealing with it? Well, one in five Britons admitted to stamping on their gadgets or throwing them at a wall.
