Are Amazon slashing the price of Kindle Fire before adding new models?

20 June 2012

Amazon-Kindle-FireAmazon's Kindle Fire could be seeing a drop in price to $150/£100 as they prepare to launch new models of the tablet. That's exciting isn't it?

It has been reported that there's going to be a new 7-inch Kindle later on in the year as well as 8.9-inch and 10.1-inch models.

The spec on the new 7-inch Kindle is vague, but sources say that the 7-inch tablet will have an improved screen resolution of 1200 x 800 and 'a more competent computing platform.'

We'll be the judge of that.

Of course, if this transpires to be the case, then there could be something of a price-war with all the tablets (Android, naturally. Apple aren't ever going to indulge in such practises are they?), which could see a number of bargain priced tablets on the shelves.

Do we need more Kindles?

The Fire hasn't launched outside of America and it's obsolete. I'd imagine Fire 2 will be the beefed up international version?

Perhaps amazon should have released this globally before a price drop. No doubt shoppers would have jizzed all over this and happily parted with the stupid markup in price it would have cost them
