Apple to buy out Beats?
Apparently, the iCompany has entered final talks with Beats Electronics and there's going to be an announcement next week.
This last 12 months has been buyouts-a-go-go, with Whatsapp, Nest and all manner of things getting gobbled up by tech-giants. And you can see why Beats and Apple would be a good partnership, what with them both selling products that are, frankly, overpriced and with a huge emphasis on the aesthetic.
They're both mid-range brands that some people see as luxury items. And while Apple's headphones became almost famous in their own right, simply for being white, you can see them releasing new phones and iPods, bundled with Beats earbuds as an extra carrot to dangle at potential customers.
Naturally, they could make a lot of money on speakers, docks and other music-related devices and Beats already has a tie-in with HP, which will inevitably end-up being a similar deal with Macbooks.
On top of that, Apple will be able to tie-in with Beats Music, with iTunes Radio, which means they'll be going after other streaming services like Spotify, Google Play and Pandora.
One thing's for sure - people who like slagging off Apple Fanboiz and people who wear Beats headphones will have a field day.
