If you're a thousand years old, you probably think that Snapchat is a flash in the pan app, that people only use to send each other pictures of their undercarriages.
Not so. Snapchat is doing a roaring trade, giving people the opportunity to use something that feels social, yet also, private at the same time. And of course, there's people sharing pictures of their nether-regions too.
In fact, Snapchat is doing so well, that according to a new report, is has 150 million people using the app each day.
For scale, that's more daily active users than Twitter has (who currently boast 140 million daily users, which isn't bad either).
While a lot of people are still confused by Snapchat, it hasn't stopped being adopted by people - it has grown more than 35% in five months. It has overtaken Twitter in five years, while Twitter has been going for a decade.
Whether you like looking at people's selfies, chatting privately, doing video chat, or just sharing pictures and videos of yourself where you're vomiting a rainbow, there's a lot of reasons why Snapchat is exploding in popularity.
Faceswapping with people is still very, very funny.
Of course, Snapchat isn't the valuable news-source that Twitter is, and indeed, isn't much cop for seeing what is trending in the world, but the fact of the matter is; Snapchat is fun and daft, and clearly, everyone needs a bit of that in their lives.
