Facebook - the new home of live FA Cup football

17 August 2011

02 The football season has only just begun, but the FA Cup is already almost back on our screens. Well, our computer screens – live and exclusive... on FACEBOOK!

The competition is being sponsored by Budweiser from this season and they’ll be webcasting the mouth-watering clash between Ascot United and Wembley FC on their Facebook fan page at 7.45pm on Friday, in a move that impresses no one and degrades so many of us with one fell swoop.

But if you’re a young fan of either of those teams, you won’t be able to see this momentous footballing spectacle – that’s because you need to be 18 or over in order to ‘like’ the Budweiser Facebook page and get a look at the match coverage.

What a phenomenal bunch of old arse.

Bit harsh - don't you think it's a bit of fun and some good exposure for those teams who kick start this competition every year? It doesn't cost owt and 22 people are going to have a few minutes of fame. What's the problem here?

I don't see the problem. Who's forcing you to watch it? I probably will be, and why not, it's free.

You don't have to be over 18, you have to say you are over 18. This is the internet. And I am an 18 year old girl, playing with my 38DD breasts while I sit naked typing this.

Andy Dawson clearly isn't a football fan - any free footy is worth a watch if you have nothing else to do. Like Gaz said, let the 22 guys and their small fanbase have their moment of glory - good on budweiser for supporting the teams that kick off the competition.
