Facebook is not giving money away, so stop thinking they are
People can be idiots. We all know that. The internet is great for conning them, be it maliciously, or just having a laugh. This weekend, you may have seen the gullible sharing a post which said that Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg was planning to give 1,000 users $4.5 million (£3 million) each.
Now, that is obviously never, ever, ever going to happen. That didn't stop people sharing the post because they either thought it was true, or they didn't want to take any chances on missing out.
This is the post.
Of course, Mark Zuckerberg and his partner Priscilla Chan did announce that they are planning to give away 99% of their Facebook stock to good causes, but sadly, random people who have been pissing around on Facebook probably don't count as 'good causes'.
Facebook themselves have already debunked it, saying: "Friends don't let friends copy and paste memes. While Priscilla and Mark's pledge to give money to improve the world is real, not everything you read on the internet is, and they're not giving it away randomly."
Related to this, this other post that has been spotted on Facebook is 100% correct.
