Facebook: Annoying ads to be a thing

25 April 2014

Bitterwallet - Facebook Facebook have said that they intend to up its use of video advertisements in its feed.

Brilliant.

The social network introduced auto-play video ads in to the news feeds last month, and it's going to be a regular thing.

COO Sheryl Sandberg said:

"We really want to see auto-play video ads be something that's pretty common in the News Feed experience, based on consumer usage, before we push very hard in the ads business,"

She added: "Our goal is to make News Feed as engaging as possible. I'm sure your friends love seeing your kids play basketball. I think they'd probably like to see more of those."

"And when and if we deliver a really great ad experience, an ad that you love, something you're interested in, I think they're going to like that just as much."

Actually, it sounds like the bleatings of a madperson determined to send everyone on bludgeoning rage. So, hurrah then. Something you didn't want is going to target you even more specifically and drive you mad.

The future, eh?
