Product Recall - IKEA Safety Gate

13 May 2015

Screen Shot 2015-05-13 at 09.17.15IKEA have confirmed that they are to recall their Patrull Klämma and Patrull Smidig pressure mounted safety gate as this is likely to cause a trip hazard if used at the top of the stairs.

IKEA have stated however that this is absolutely fine to be used at the bottom of your stairs or leading between rooms. Customers can return this item to their store for a full refund or if they wish they can swap this for a Patrull Fast which can be used at the top of the stairs. There is no need to provide proof of purchase for this item.

These gates have been sold since 1995 so chances are that many of you will have one. It is also very likely that most of you will be aware that a metal bar across the bottom of a safety gate isn't intended to be placed above a top step. Anyway.

For more information, you can take a look here on the IKEA site.
