Microsoft's toe-curling 'bae' invite

Microsoft's toe-curling invite

You know when someone learns a new word and then repeatedly uses it until you want to introduce your foot to the back of their pants?

You will have seen these people all over Facebook, saying "squad goals" for no reason, saying that they're 'twerking' when they're not, and referring to things as 'on fleek' without knowing what it actually means.

Well, we take you now to Microsoft who have sent out an email to students in what has to be one of the most toe-curling attempts at youth-speak, ever.

Twitter user Patrick Burtchaell shared the Microsoft recruiter's embarrassing crowbarring of slang.

It looks like this.

The message reads: "HEY BAE INTERN! <3"

"Hi! I am Kim, a Microsoft University Recruiter. My crew is coming down from our HQ in Seattle to hang out with you and the crowd of bay area interns at Internapalooza on 7/11."

"BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, we're throwing an exclusive after party the night of the event at our San Francisco office and you're invited! There will be hella noms, lots of dranks, the best beats and just like last year, we're breaking out the Yammer beer pong tables!"

Microsoft have said sorry about the whole thing: "The email was poorly worded and not in keeping with our values as a company. We are looking into how this occurred and will take appropriate steps to address it."

They didn't need to be quite so serious about it. If that was Bitterwallet, and we'd dropped a clanger, we would have stuck with the youth chatter, and gone straight for this reply:
