Want to save the world? Drink whisky

17 December 2013

whisky We all want to do our bit to save the planet, be it putting plastic bottles in the recycling bin or only burning great piles of tractor tyres once a year, rather than every weekend.

However, there's a much better way of saving the planet and that is to drink whisky. It may sound a bit far fetched, but there's reason behind this idea.

See, whisky producers are going so green, that just by getting drunk, you'll be worth a thousand Earth Songs and Do They Know It's Christmases put together. By getting in a Christmas stupor, you can tell your detractors that you're healing the world and making it a better place, for you and for me and the entire human race.

Scotch whisky producers are going environmentally friendly and embracing non-fossil fuels, renewable technologies and zero waste to landfill strategies.

So what does this mean? According to the Scotch Whisky Association, they reckon the industry is close to achieving its zero waste target and has cut greenhouse gas emissions, despite increasing production by 11 per cent. So there you have it. Drink as much whisky as you like this Christmas. You'll be a veritable saint if you do.
