Moving into modern day 2009:

5.YouTube joins in the fun.

Want to do the Youtube flip trick on your own videos?

Simply add "&flip=1" at the end of each video like this, and share them with us:

Acquires The Pirate Bay: From Torrentfreak: "Years of hostility, lawsuits, police raids and heated invective between the two groups, the Pirate Bay has today announced they have settled their differences with US media conglomerate Warner Bros. The largest BitTorrent tracker sold out to Hollywood and the two have agreed a deal." Time to flee the country, fellas!

3. BBC / Top Gear To Stream Show On Hulu, Ad Supported: Thanks to Top Gear US and AU flopping, the BBC has decided to bring James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson to Hulu for international exposure.

“This is quite a new step for us.” says Jeremy, “We know that people love our show and what we do but the Internet and Hulu bumps it up to a whole new level. We have to step our creativity up.”

Finally for nostalgia's sake:

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/5802/bigbengoesdigital412093.jpg1. Big Ben Goes Digital – 1980 was donkey’s years ago, wasn’t it? Prince Charles was still single, Ronald Reagan hadn’t yet been elected, and women’s work suits were only beginning to grow shoulder pads that would eventually reach frightening proportions. Oh, and lots of people got digital watches. Also in 1980, the BBC reported that Big Ben was being given a facelift to keep up with modern times and would be fitted with a digital readout. Everyone was suitably outraged, except for a Japanese seaman afloat in the Atlantic. The BBC Japanese service announced that the clock hands would be sold to the first four callers, and the sailor immediately radioed in his bid.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I'm nipping over to the BW common room to join Andy and Paul in munching some fresh New Zealand fish that Paul's speareheaded and flew home with... delicious.

Happy April's Fools!

One of the most famous that fooled "millions" was the BBC report on the spaghetti harvest. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/april/1/newsid_2819000/2819261.stm

How is the top gear thing even slightly funny? It's just a lie, it's an entirely believable, quite reasonable story and actually a good idea. perhaps that's supposed to be the joke? that the bbc would do something smart. I don't think the writer of that article quite get's the concept of april fools day, it's supposed to be something funny, you should make somebody believe something absurd. I drive a Midnight Blue Vauxhall Astra HAHA April Fools! it's actually dark green.

I agree the top gear thing is just crap. But then, aren't most of them these days?

What do you think?
