Forget drink dispensers with only 8 flavours - they're so 2008. The Coca Cola Mega Corp are testing out a new touchscreen gizmo to provide ultimate satisfaction to fans of the fizz. In their home city of Atlanta, they're trialling a new hi-tech dispenser that provides over 100 different flavours - many of them previously unavailable. While some of the brands aren't well known in the UK, there are others such as Coca Cola itself are available in multiple flavours - it comes in six flavours including raspberry and orange.

It's good news for connoisseurs of carbonated water, but bad for customers who just want a regular coke but get stuck behind a bunch of backwards cocknuts who act like they've just found a copy of Readers Wives. Like this lot, for example:

Is this amount of choice really what you want in a fast food joint? How many customers won't be sucked in to spending several minutes exploring all the new flavours? Is delivering consumer choice in this way going to make service better or worse? Unless there's a second machine with limited choice next to it (meaning twice as much floorspace is taken up) then we can't see the novelty value doing any favours for the restaurant or the customers.

    It's got Danone or whatever it's called in it, you know the stuff that Coke were charging £2 a bottle for that turned out to be tapwater and was rapidly withdrawn from the UK market. I wouldn't mind but it doesn't even sell Dr Pepper or 7Up which are obviously the 2 greatest hangover cures known to humankind.
