Morrisons ready to challenge Mothercare with Kiddicare stores

8 January 2012

kiddicare Mothercare could be quaking in their nappies today, following the news that Morrisons are looking to move into the recently-vacated Best Buy stores as they get ready to launch their Kiddicare brand.

The supermarket giants acquired the online-only Kiddicare brand for £70m last year and currently only have one large store, in Peterborough. But if they can bring their online prices instore, their presence could be enough to finish off the troubled Mothercare.

No deal has been sealed yet although it is believed that talks for Morrisons to take over the eleven large former Best Buy stores are at an advanced stage.
