Miley Cyrus jewellery in toxic metal shocker
Well, not exactly, that might be a bit of an overstatement. But a range of (Hannah star) Miley Cyrus-branded jewellery has been withdrawn from Wal-mart stores in the USA after it was discovered to contain high levels of the toxic metal cadmium. That’s cadmium that can hinder brain development in the very young and lead to bone softening and kidney failure.
It’s okay though, because just wearing the affected necklaces and bracelets won’t do any damage, but sucking them will. But hey, kids don’t suck necklaces do they? So there isn’t really a problem. Much.
Wal-mart obviously agree because they learned of the cadmium levels present in the jewellery back in February but opted to do nothing about it. An investigation by Associated Press has led to the mass recall that has taken place this week.
The offending items have been on sale in Wal-mart stores across the USA since December, so if you’ve holidayed over there in the past six months and picked up some Miley Cyrus jewellery from a Wal-Mart store, you might want to bury it all in the garden in a lead-lined box.
