It's like Google Maps versus Sesame Street...

The highly improbably-named Rhett Dashwood is a creative-type lounging about in sunny Melbourne (which sort of explains the name). Between last October and last month, Dashwood went on a virtual expedition, hunting through the backwaters of Google Maps to discover the alphabet.

Although he limited himself to the Australian state of Victoria (which in all honesty is still a huge tract of land) he found the whole alphabet built out of marinas, submerged in swamps and carved in hillsides:

It's just one of the many activities you can get involved in at the Google Earth Community - you'll be hunting down statues or curious Google Street View shots before you know it. But only if you're really stuck for something to do this evening.

Many thanks for one more great write-up. Where else could anyone get that type of info in such a perfect way of writing? I've a presentation in a few days, and I am on the search for such information.

What do you think?
