Gold prices may well be at an all-time high (or something) but we’ve found another commodity that could be even more precious – we speak of course of Michael Jackson’s hair.

A website is now offering you the chance to buy a piece of the burnt hair that fell off the scorched head of the King Of Pop back in 1984 when his head caught fire during the filming of a Pepsi commercial. The price? A mere £149.99.

As the blurb says: “Executive producer for the Pepsi commercial, Ralph Cohen, was among the first to aid Jackson. As seen on the now famous video (right), Cohen threw his jacket over Jackson's head to help extinguish the flames.

“The provenance and authenticity of this lock of hair is impeccable, including the highly publicized video showing the original owner of the hair using his Armani jacket to extinguish Jackson’s hair.”

Your piece of charred star-hair will come on a piece of display card in case you want to frame it, but our guesstimate is that one of these will probably be worth a cool million in a few years’ time.

Hair from Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy is also available at a knockdown £49.95 if you’re on a tight budget; we’re not sure if the latter comes with blood on it.
