Bitterwallet - Hamleys forget to re-register domain name before Christmas

Yes, less than two months before Christmas, during which time toy stores make more money than in the rest of the year, somebody at Hamleys has forgotten to renew their domain name. Network Solutions have confirmed they are attempting to contact the company to arrange renewal.

www.hamleys.com seems to be working now...

Not if you want to browse or buy, it doesn't...

    Their site is working.

It's fuckwitted, but not the end of the world. Network Solutions will just charge then a fee to renew it after it's expired. If the domain had dropped, that would be a different matter as I'm sure 1 million domainers would be after it.
    • Andy D.
Exactly 1 million? How do you have this information? Are you Network Solutions? Not the end of the world? REALLY? How do you have this information? Are you The Baby Jesus?
  • nick
It really isn't the end of the world. Once a domain expires, it goes into a status called "redemption" in which it can be renewed for an additional charge. It's only once that extra period expires is when someone else can pick it up. It seems to be up now anyway.

    it is working now... booo

Did the BW team wake up on the wrong side of bed this morning? All in all a tad harsh guys.
  • Jeffrey A.
Yeah, well harsh. Useless cunts, shotguns for the lot of you!

Yes Andy, there are EXACTLY 1 million domainers in the world. I know, I'm one of them and it's like a secret club. But we don't EVER talk about Domainers Club. That's the first rule. And the second. I'll be watching the bitterwallet.com domain from now on of course, which is up for renewal in about 21 months time. Yeah, I'll be watching.

  • Brian
Hi, Brian here.Hamleys and and all the posters here (except me) are cock suckers.
  • Alan
Let's register the domain and put a porno site on it :D or sell a different type of toy.
  • Sean
I seem to remember that the markerting director was one of the people featured in the Channel 4 documentary about the middle class people who were made redundant
  • Rachel
I find it quite funny that they would forget something like registering the domain! As someone who works in marketing and has this responsibility as part of the online job, its a pretty careless thing to do! Had I realised earlier it would have been tempting to nick it and publish something altogether different! lol
