Gin shortage possible - middle classes set to riot

30 October 2015

gin There's trouble in the middle class world, which means we could be set for the most polite rioting in human history.

What's the problem? Well, there could be a gin shortage, after a new study from the people at Plantlife said that there's a problem with juniper berries. If you didn't know, that's one of the main ingredients in gin and the thing that makes it taste like pot pourri.

There's a disease that's killing all the juniper bushes in Scotland - a place that is regarded to be one of the best in the world to get your junipers from. Plantlife says Scotland’s juniper crops are in a 'critical state', and that 79% of last year’s stock is now too damaged, old, or dead to be used.

Now, a lot of gin is made with ingredients sourced from abroad, so your crazy cat lady pals, and men in red chinos should be okay for a while. Do keep an eye on them though, to make sure they don't do anything crazy, like top themselves or start drinking lager.

If you're going out tonight, be sure to drink a gallon or two of it, just to be on the safe side.
