Commercial Break: When meerkats get it a bit wrong

24 March 2009

You just can’t beat the latest ad for, starring Aleksandr Orlov, the debonair meerkat and proud owner of soundalike site

If you’ve never smiled at the ad, not even once, you truly have a heart fashioned from cheap tarmac and you should go and stand in the corner until you’ve mended your ways.

Anyhoo, the great man/meerkat is back in this new viral, featuring outtakes and bloopers from the original ad. Watch it, love it. Simples!

  • John
    not funny.
  • Martin
Made up bloopers, very funny. Why not have him playing with a chainsaw and send the hilarious bloopers to you've been framed.
  • hairy
i used to be a store manager from woolies (got out 3 month before they went tits up) at a store managers conference they showed a "bloopers" real from woolie and worth i thought that was utter toss and unbeatable until i clicked this...
  • Viewer
Well - I liked it. Brought a smile to my face after a long day in the office.
  • RickyBobby
Utter drivel, the people behind that shite want executing for producing such toss under the assumption it'd be funny.
  • James R.
Hmm, more like compare how much more money we can rob from you
  • phil m.
This is not funny at all. Fcking waste of time.
  • Jeezey
Absolutely brilliant, all you grumpy b****rds should sod off back to your unhappy lives and start searching for a deal on low proced senses of humour. ;-))
  • The J.
Don't mess with the meerkat, it's ballin' (serious).
  • Mr S.
You gotta smile at 'a bald man, he falls over' :)
  • Grant
If a former Woolies manager doesn't find this funny then it must be bloody hysterical.

  • Random
    Old and lame
  • -=Mike H.
I think it's highly ammusing, I also find it amusing that the numpty from WOOLIES (R.I.P) got out 3 months before he got his redundancy pay, not laughing at all huh? twat.
  • Dominic P.
It's funnier than most of the shit in adverts that try to be funny
  • dan m.
    i look like a meerkat
  • Will
The point being though they dont really care if you think its funny or not, the fact is all of your know the advert and what its for :). After all isn't that the point of a advert to create market awareness , especially for websites. Advertisers dream the publicity its created :D
  • Stradders
The original advert was genius, the jingle one is a bit gay. The whole concept is a really clever marketing dream - an cute cuddly memorable and original mascot for the company instead of ducks or labradors <_<, covers typos when people enter their web address so they'll have a link to re-direct them to the, puts in a Borat type accent which seems to be popular of late, the idea of him being upper class and just the script and animations are just brilliant! I'm not in marketing and tbh i don't really wanna rush to see Borat any time soon, but that advert is fucking brilliant, much better than the normal shite that gets churned out

I hate it & switch channels
  • SimbaK2K
girlfriend loves the meerkat's, excellent campaign. she also liked this bloopers video.
  • MinstrelMan
Have to agree with stradders, anyone with kids will have this rammed down their throats, so it does its jobs at sticking at the forfront of your mind. love it or hate it, its a genius bit of marketing.
  • Johnny F.
Really, really awful campaign. The whole 'meerkat' angle seems like something the work experience thought up on his lunch break. It misses the mark by so much it is uncomfortable to watch.
  • Teh L.
Funny how this campaign has divided opinion so much! I don't see how anyone could fail to love the whole meerkat & accent combo, plus the market/meerkat pun, it's awesome stuff. I'm not hugely amused by this outtakes reel, but any excuse to watch a bit more of Aleksandr is fine my me.

mick foley formally from burnley stole the idea of the meerkat addverts (the first one through to the grub famine) from kendal copeland! he also stole, go all of the ones where the tenner is singing, all of the churchill addverts, all the animated 118-118 adds, bright dancing adds, all the aviva adds with paul whitehouse and around 70 others!
  • Lisa
I love the Meerkat adverts, all of them.. I would take hours of them over GoCompare guy!.
