Commercial Break: The obligatory overblown Nike World Cup ad is here!
Earlier in the week we heralded in the World Cup and the glut of related ads that will inevitably appear before and during the ‘feast of football’ by bringing you three Brazilians having a ball-juggling bash at Beyonce’s Single Ladies. It was okay.
Now the stakes have been raised with this three-minute effort from Nike, made by Alejandro G Inarritu, the director of the 21 Grams and Babel. It shows some of the top names from the 2010 World Cup and how their footballistical efforts could change the world for better or for worse.
There’s also a surprising cartoon cameo and Wayne Rooney sporting a tramp-beard. Oh and Ronaldinho is in there as well, even though he won’t be actually going to the tournament unless someone else gets injured – try and ignore those bits.
The World Cup is almost here – fucking hell!
