Commercial Break: Scathing Duffy ad parody proves it's a nice world after all

In the morass of bad ads that are currently out there, it doesn’t get much worse than odd-faced Welsh warbler Duffy’s spot for Diet Coke where she inexplicably leaves one of her own gigs to go off for a quick bike ride around a supermarket for a couple of minutes while quacking out a half-baked song.

A farce – they won’t let kids in wearing Heelys so how a Brits winner is allowed to zip around on her bike is beyond us. Anyway, there’s a link to the ad here – we’re not embedding it ‘cos it’s bollocks.

Thankfully, comedy duo Him & Me have come up with a parody of the ad and bunged it up on YouTube. Mercifully, considering it’s a parody, it’s actually funny, with a wicked twist towards the end. So here it is. Enjoy. With a can of Pepsi Max. Because we shouldn’t have to put up with Duffy.

I do like Duffys album (it was a lot better before it was played ever 20 minutes on the radio) But the singing on that Coke advert is bloody awful!

"we’re not embedding it ‘cos it’s bollocks" - And yet, there it is...

    It's not embedded. It's linked. They're different.

the ad is crap duffy is crap but unfortunately so is this parody. pity cos there is so much room for comedy in a warbling idiot cycling round a supermarket.

Well I like 'some' of Duffy's stuff. But that ad? Did she take a good deep breath of helium? Ah, helium balloons :) what fun we have had with them at weddings etc.... shame this ad isn't funny though.

I'm surprised some scally didn't nick the bike off her seeing as it appears it was filmed at Sainsburys/Dunnes on Regent Road Retail Park in Salford (scene to the Ordsall riots a number of years ago)!

Wow ive seen the ad and didnt think much of it, surpised for the hatred its getting here. End of the day you have written an article on it and have got others on here talking about it therefore justifying the advert as its doing it job (drawing attension) , Ironic, more than a tad. :)

That parody is bloody brilliant!! Made me laugh a lot! I always wondered why Duffy agreed to film the advert- and now I know!!

Duffy Lyrics... The disc pictures and video for the songs track were captured on and around the Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog, which was renamed 'Rockferry' after for the occasion....
