Commercial Break: RIP Davy Jones

29 February 2012

News has just broken that Davy Jones of The Monkees has died. This is incredibly sad and it cannot be underestimated what a truly phenomenal group The Monkees were. So, as a kind of tribute, here’s Davy and Mickey and Mike flogging Kool Aid in the 1960s, with the promise of a hand buzzer and a snake in a can for keen collectors of package tops. Lovely stuff.

Oh, and while we’re here, here’s Daydream Believer. Pop doesn’t get much more perfect than this. RIP Davy Jones.

When my girlfriend told me about the death of The Monkee's lead singer, I thought she was joking. Then I saw her face....

The Monkees were awesome, so much better musically than the beatles. Plus the film Head is superior to anything those scouse gits made, plus it had As We Go Along in it.

    I prefer Gorillaz to Monkee's.

Who gives a shit about PC David Rathband? He was only shot in the face by a madman, blinded, started a charity, broke up with his wife and found dead last night. No one?

    > And the other joke is …. I’m a bereaved. "I'm a bereaver" sounds better.

Hello. Where's that Wowcher article gone then? Every time you post one of those Groupon/wowcher/LivingSocial/etc articles it disappears after 15 minutes and then reappears again the following day. What's that all about eh? Is it Roy Castle?
