Commercial Break: Another Torres ad, confusion mounts
A couple of weeks ago we sneered and pointed at a crappy ad for a small town hairdressing salon in Spain that was supposedly owned by a friend of Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, with the star appearing in it as a favour to his old mate.
Looks like we’ve been had. Two more half-arsed Spanish ads have appeared, also starring Torres – one for tennis lessons and the other for a dog training school (below). Notice that in the new ad, Torres is wearing Nike gear. Sniff sniff, poooh, smell that rat anyone? Have we been stitched up by a cunning Nike viral?
The truth is, we’re still not exactly sure. There’s not a trace of Nikeness in the hairdressing ad, but is that part of the stunt? Is it really a series of Nike ads, or is Torres genuinely advertising companies owned by his mates? Or a different company altogether? We do know that the dog ad was filmed in the UK. So.... ???
We don’t like it when ad men are smarter than us, no siree. Watch this space…
