Commercial Break: Rightmove ad looks oddly familiar

18 January 2010

Who says that advertising agencies are all manned by venal thieving scumbags? Not us buster, that’s for sure.

If you're in need of a laugh, just look at this classic sketch from Big Train, the show that emerged from the heads of Father Ted writers Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews a decade or so ago.

Then compare it to this new Rightmove ad, where the ailing property marketeers try to start and get things moving again by comparing the work of estate agents to, erm, well, some estate agents operating out of alfresco offices on the Serengeti plain.

Estate agents – why must they continue to make it easy for us to loathe them? Eh??

They're all at it - I watched that Halifax advert the other day and realised they'd just ripped it of the last time I took a crap...

Meh...I see the slight similarity of African plaines, but the similarity pretty much stops there. Big Train replaced the animals with people, The Right Move ad has the estate agents just operating as normal but relocated to the African plaines. Compare it to, say OkGo and Berrocca and I don't think you have a case... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t83et2J51Rw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv5zWaTEVkI

None of the estate agents died. Or were even chased.
