There's a new iPhone due - here's what we know

11 March 2016

The next phone Apple release is not going to be an iPhone 7. More likely, it'll be the iPhone SE or 5SE, and it'll be (in Apple terms) one of their budget handsets, and not a huge beast of a phone, sitting at  the lower end of their range. It'll be a 4 inch affair, for those of you who think size matters.

Apple have sent out invitations for an event on 21 March, which means tech writers of the world will be clearing their diaries, just in case Apple have something big up their sleeves.

Now, Apple have already set up the page where you can watch it all, if you're into that kind of thing. If you want to bookmark it, then you can find it here. It'll no doubt be on your Apple TV too.

So that's that. Now, it is time for the speculation.

This new phone could well be announced alongside a new iPad Air 3, and it is thought that both could be on the shelves as soon as April. The iPhone SE is likely to have an 8-megapixel camera, and powered by the Apple A9 processor. It'll have similar features to the newest iPhones, but they'll just appear on a smaller screen, for those of you who prefer that, or have smaller hands.

We suspect that this new handset will cost around £350, but Apple could go higher than that.

That really is money for old rope, good on them if they can get away with it, more fool the people who buy a very average sounding phone for a lot of money.
