The hissing iPhone 7 problem
iPhone 7 and 7 Plus owners have been talking about a hissing sound that has been coming from their devices.
It looks like this could be something to do with the phone's new A10 Fusion processor, because it seems like the noise only happens when the smartphone is processing big files or programs.
There's no fan in an iPhone to cool it down, but apparently, the sound these phones are making is similar to that when a fan kicks in on a computer when it has got too hot.
Podcaster Stephen Hackett has spoken to Apple about it, and they say that it looks like it is a defect.
The advice here, is that you need to go to an Apple Store and get a replacement for your phone. There's a bit of a shortage of iPhone 7 devices at the moment though, so that's not an ideal resolution.
You can hear the noise the hissing iPhone 7 handsets are making in the video below.
Granted, that was probably one of the least thrilling videos you've ever seen, but the problem is there, and if you've paid a lot of money for an iPhone, while this isn't the end of the world, it isn't really acceptable.
We've looked into this, and it doesn't look like there's a fix for the problem, beyond replacement.
