Sainsbury's take on Tesco with cheap mobile

25 July 2013

old_mobile_phones_001 Sainsbury's have announced a new cheapo mobile, going head-to-head with Tesco Mobile.

Mobile by Sainsbury's is a partnership with the supermarket and Vodafone and will come in three basic bundles: £10 a month gets you 200 minutes, and 250MB of data, £15 ups gets you 300 minutes and 500GB of data, £20 gets you 800 minutes and 1GB of data.

All packages come with unlimited texts.

The handsets on offer with be £12 for the Nokia 100, going up to £115 for the Nokia Lumia 520 or £109 for the Samsung Galaxy Fame.

"We know that many customers find choosing a mobile phone network a bit stressful, so we've opted to not only keep our price plans as affordable as possible - we've also made it incredibly simple. With our pay as you go service, customers know exactly what they're getting and how much they're spending - which means no nasty surprises at the end of the month," said Emma McLaughlin, Mobile by Sainsbury's marketing director.

Not only that, but you'll be able to link up your Mobile by Sainsbury's account with your Nectar card to add to loyalty rewards.

McLaughlin added: "The average UK family is feeling the pinch, and this is an easy way to make your pound stretch further. Sainsbury's has demonstrated that a family of four can eat five meals for just £20, so the £180 worth of Nectar points would feed a family across 45 meals a year. Or you could use the points to treat yourself and your partner to a relaxing spa day."

Yeah! Let your kids starve while you get a neck rub while texting them pictures of you in a mud bath!

“We know that many customers find choosing a mobile phone network a bit stressful...' I'm sorry, but if that applies to anyone they are probably too stupid to use a phone. In fact they should be glued to a wall and never allowed anywhere near public places.

And how much would you have to spend to get £180 of Nectar points?

Who are the idiots that would pay £10 a month for just 200 minutes and 200Mb of data? You get that and more in some areas on Ovivo for free and much more on Giff Gaff for the same price.

^Learn the difference between "your" and "you're". Really. You seem to know your "their" and "there", so are you just lazy? You fucking moron.

I've always found Vodafone to be the most expensive network so it's no suprise if they are using their network. Hopefully this might make them a bit more competetive for those of us who only get signal with Voda.
