Rock Band twangs and thumps its way on to the iPhone

9 October 2009

rock_band_cover You know what, it’s been too long since we had a good old iPhone story around these parts, so here’s a scorcher for you. Hot on the heels of the Beatles version of the game, a Rock Band app is coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch later this month.

The game will be designed for you to play alone or with as many as three other friends, colleagues, companions, acquaintances or even strangers (!) via Bluetooth. You’ll have the choice of playing guitar, drums, bass or singing vocals, and you’ll almost certainly look like a complete twatbasket while you’re at it.

Among the 20 tracks to be included in the game will be…

Beastie Boys – 'Sabotage'
Blink-182 – 'All The Small Things'
Blondie – 'Hanging on the Telephone'
Foo Fighters – 'Everlong'
George Thorogood & the Destroyers – 'Bad to The Bone'
Motorhead – 'Ace of Spades '08'
Pixies – 'Debaser'
Smashing Pumpkins – 'Cherub Rock'
Steve Miller Band – 'Take The Money and Run'
Bronski Beat – ‘Hit That Perfect Beat Boy’

The price is yet to be announced but we confidently predict that it’ll cost somewhere in between the equivalent of a Cadburys Fredo bar and a collection of rare birds’ eggs.

Like pretending to play a musical instrument, wasting time that could actually being spent learning to play the real thing? There's an app for that.

Strange that a Microsoft game should find its way on to the Papple platform. What's next.... Halo 4, on PSP? Especially strange when you consider that the 1st Windows Mobile with a multitouch capacitve display is to be released, within the next couple of weeks. Ho hum. (Up your bum).
