Microsoft pulls cringeworthy Apple parody video following backlash

16 September 2013

Microsoft have decided to pull a video which mocked Apple's new iPhone 5S and 5C handsets, after everyone pointed out that it was completely dreadful.

The video, which you can see below, showed a spoof Apple brainstorming session, with two fake employees pitching ideas to a Tim Cook lookalike.

The video is part of Microsoft's #timetoswitch campaign, which is attempting to get people to stop using iOS and switching to the Windows Phone mobile operating system.

Microsoft said in a statement, "The video was intended to be a light-hearted poke at our friends from Cupertino. But it was off the mark, and we've decided to pull it down."

Wow that's lame. Didn't Microsoft just buy a company that makes cheap plastic phones...

I actually quite liked it. Yes, it may be pot calling kettles but Apple users are a bunch of early adopting hipsters that act like the court in the Emperor's new clothes.

How many iphone and android users have you known smash their screen? Loads. How many Nokia users smash theirs? Not very many. I even washed one of my old nokias a few years ago and after a couple of days drying out it was fine. Cant beat that shit.

@Poopy Damn right! Although the technical term for 'Apple users' is actually iDiots... @hotmail ruuuuules I know plenty of iphone users that have smashed their screens, a couple of Android users, and several Nokia users. I once spilt ice cream on a Nokia E71 and despite drying it out and such, it never worked again... Another point is that it is much easier to damage a big screen than a smaller one - and since Android phones such as the Galaxy Note 1/2, Galaxy S2/S3/S4, Galaxy Mega, HTC One, etc all have much bigger screens than iPhones and every Nokia Windows phone I've ever seen...
