LG G2 stunt goes woefully wrong as punters turn up with guns and knives-on-sticks

Bitterwallet - LG becomes PacMan LG thought they'd promote themselves by releasing 100 helium-filled balloons with vouchers attached for a free G2 phone, which is worth £550.

Sounds good? Well, sadly for LG, Seoul-based fans turned out with guns and knives attached to sticks in a bid to pop the balloons, with loads of people getting injured in the process, some of them being sent to hospital.

As such, LG announced that they'd be covering any medical costs.

One TV station called the scene 'World War G' as people shoved each other around and trampled on heads in a desperate lunge to get themselves a free handset. As a result, the company said they are cancelling all further promotional events.

The new phone will be available in the next couple of months and will run on Android. It is notable for not having any side-buttons and a 5.2 inch full HD display. It also has a 13 megapixel camera and has Hi-Fi playback which LG claims can reproduce “studio-quality sound, far superior to a CD.”

Sadly, on global release, we won't have to kick each other's arses to get one, Royal Rumble style.
