iPhones can now be unbricked
They've discovered a way of get around the security Apple devices. The 'Activation Lock' which keeps your phone or tablet on lockdown if you've lost it or had it stolen, gave Apple devotees some sense of wellbeing, knowing that their phone was useless to all.
However, the hackers - called AquaXetine and MerrukTechnolog have weaselled past all this. All you need to do (this will no doubt make it sound easier than it actually is) is plug your phone into a computer, alter a file and trick the device into connecting to the hackers' server instead.
Once you're connected, the server will tell the iPhone or iPad to unlock. And there's people all over the place who are crowing about how this actually works.
The hacking duo posted instructions on their website and said: "This runaround is only meant to be used for good. The hack was "built with love" for those original owners who lost access to their own devices, they said. No stolen Apple devices, please."

Obviously, you do so at your own risk and the whole thing is legally dubious, but if you have a phone that's dead anyway and want to try getting it to work again, this could be just the thing. Be warned, it is a bit clunky, but them's the breaks.
