HTC launch a pair of Windows Phone 8 handsets

19 September 2012

_62990803_lime HTC have rocked the mobile phone world practically right off its own hinge with the unveiling of not one but TWO new Windows Phone 8 handsets at some swanky New York bash.

First up is the 8X (pictured), which is packing as a 4.3" (10.9cm) display, which will act as a companion to the Android-powered One X. There’ll also be a smaller 8S model with a 4" (10.2cm) screen.

The 8X will launch in 50 countries in early November with the 8S being available in 52 countries. Why? We don’t know. At this point in time, we don’t really care. We’re just so excited about the new phones and the new Windows Phone 8 operating system. Phew!

Don’t forget that Nokia and Samsung will also be hurling out Windows Phone 8 devices in the near future, giving you all the choice you demand, and possibly grinding the so-called ‘iPhone 5’ into the dust.

Among the myriad of features, the 8X will have an 8MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front camera for video chat and taking pictures of your own face. Both will have wide-angle views. We’re sure that tariff info will be pumped out by the UK’s fine mobile providers very shortly, so keep ‘em peeled.

    Horrific colour.

Until Microsoft/HTC/Nokia and or other Windows Phone manufacturers get something like the Apple Genius Bar I think they are going to struggle. Having somewhere to go where you can talk in person and get your phone looked at is a huge thing for Apple.

"First up is the 8X (pictured)" Pictured where, exactly?

@Chewbacca It was probably pictured in the original story that they cut and pasted the text from.

Nick, why the hell would you need someone to look at your phone? It's not exactly difficult to use a phone, hell windows phones are much easier than apple phones.
